MAJOR INVESTMENT IN FLEET RENEWAL FROM GEODIS CALBERSON

Leading international logistics solutions provider, Geodis Calberson, has made a substantial investment in renewing its UK vehicle fleet.

The High Wycombe based company has purchased four new Volvo articulated vehicles for its Direct Road Services (DRS) operations, with seven new DAF articulated units shortly to join them, all in Geodis Calberson’s striking orange livery.

Geodis Calberson has also acquired six new Schmitz curtainside trailers for DRS, UK collection and delivery, and European groupage use. Meanwhile, 14 double deck box units, used for DRS dedicated contracts, are being replaced with new Krone units, while the company is refurbishing a further 13 of its existing trailer fleet.

The box trailers have enhanced security provision to combat transport-related crime, such as theft of product, theft of unit and the ever-present risk of illegal immigration.

The new vehicles will bring significant benefits in terms of improved fuel efficiency, keeping emissions levels within EU standards, and of course reduced off-road time.

Laurie Doe, Commercial Director of Geodis Calberson, explained: “This investment clearly demonstrates Geodis Calberson’s commitment to the UK and offering the best
service to our customers here. “It’s a measure of the importance we place on our customers’ freight that we have invested to ensure the highest possible security levels on all of the new acquisitions – giving further confidence to customers about the safety of their consignments.”
